Samsung moved from S10 to S20 in 2020 and made Ultra a major part of the family. High-refresh displays, 5G and more ambitious camera systems shaped the launch, but the three phones need to be compared individually.

Understanding the new Ultra tier
A very high zoom number does not describe the same thing as optical magnification. The S20 generation makes that distinction especially important. Camera hardware, sensor cropping and digital processing contribute differently to the final image, and the maximum setting is not automatically the most useful one. Similarly, a 120Hz mode can improve scrolling without meaning that every resolution and display setting runs together at the same maximum. Check the combination you plan to use.
Which version is which?
The main February family comprises S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra. The S20 FE arrived later and has a separate guide. LTE and 5G versions were sold in different markets, so identify the exact handset rather than assuming every S20 listing describes the same network hardware. Ultra identifies the camera-focused top model; Plus is the larger regular-tier choice.
Looking at one today
Test focus at several distances, switch through the rear-camera views and inspect the camera glass. Check the display using both moving content and plain backgrounds. A used Ultra should be evaluated for actual camera performance and battery condition, not just the printed zoom number. Confirm carrier compatibility and the current support position before relying on any older version for everyday accounts.
