IPHONE MODEL ARCHIVE · 2022

The generation at a glance

Apple announced the range on 7 September 2022. The 14 and 14 Plus used 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. The Pro pair introduced Dynamic Island, an Always-On display and A16 Bionic, with a 48 MP Main camera. Pro and Pro Max used 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively.

A large phone does not have to be a Pro

If your main goal is easier reading or viewing, start with display size. If your goal is a particular camera or display function, examine that feature separately. The Plus and Pro Max both occupy the larger end of the family, but they answer different purchasing priorities. Listing the tasks you would use each additional feature for is more informative than treating “Max” as a universal recommendation.

Which version is which?

The 14 and Plus belong to the standard branch. Dynamic Island and the Always-On display distinguish the Pro branch at this launch. A seller’s title should identify the full model, since “iPhone 14 large” does not tell you which branch it is. Also confirm the regional version and SIM arrangement before buying an imported device.

What to check before choosing one

Try the interface and display features you are paying for. Check each camera using an actual photograph, not only a preview. For a used device, screen or battery work can change the value calculation considerably. If you mainly want size, compare the condition and total cost of a Plus with those of a Pro Max.

For a used handset, inspect the exact device rather than relying on stock photographs. Ask to see the cameras, charging and controls working. Check storage, battery condition and whether the previous owner has removed their account. Compare any repair quotation with the total purchase price. For daily use, verify the software and services you need on that model before buying.
