Fold6 and Flip6 brought Galaxy AI more directly into Samsung’s foldable formats. Their shared Snapdragon platform sits behind two different experiences: a large inner workspace on Fold6 and a compact clamshell with a useful outer screen on Flip6.

The format should make the software more useful
AI assistance becomes more convincing when the screen arrangement helps you act on it. A Fold can show material beside notes or another app, while a Flip can handle smaller tasks on its cover display. Test that combination rather than buying from a list of software labels alone. Translation, summarising and editing features can depend on language, software, accounts or a connection, so the availability of the particular tool you want matters.
Which version is which?
Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are the July 2024 pair. Their cameras, displays and accessories are not identical despite the shared generation number. Fold6 supports appropriate pen input, while Flip6 follows the compact clamshell brief. Do not assume a previous Fold’s case or pen-storage arrangement fits the newer body without checking the exact compatibility.
Looking at one today
Try your normal apps on both displays and inspect the hinge, crease and screen edges gently. Test the camera and charging and check whether a case affects closing or use of the outer screen. For a used example, ask about inner-screen and hinge repairs and the terms of any remaining warranty. The mechanical condition is as important as the processor generation.
