Galaxy S25 paired Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with a stronger emphasis on contextual AI and video processing. The conventional family retained three main choices, with Edge and FE additions arriving on their own timetables.

- 50MP ultrawide camera on Ultra
- 10-bit HDR video recording in the launch feature set
Compare your workflow, not only the processor
A shared processor gives the family a common platform, but does not make the phones interchangeable. Camera systems, physical size and pen input remain separate decisions. The video features are also worth considering as a workflow: capturing a richer file is useful only if your editing, storage and sharing arrangements support it. An AI shortcut should save work you actually do rather than become a reason to pay for a feature you rarely open.
Which version is which?
The January 2025 announcement covers S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. S25 Edge was revealed in full in May, and S25 FE arrived in September. Those additions have separate guides. The Edge’s slim design and the FE’s different position in the range should not be collapsed into the conventional Plus and Ultra tiers.
Looking at one today
Try the model in a case similar to the one you would use. Check all cameras, microphone recording and the available storage, especially if you make long videos. On Ultra, test writing with the pen rather than assuming every earlier pen-related feature is unchanged. Verify regional specifications and the requirements of any AI services before making them the deciding factor.
Before choosing an older phone, check the exact model on Samsung’s current security-update list and confirm local network compatibility.
