Samsung Galaxy model archive · 2022
Galaxy S22 is the generation where Ultra more clearly absorbed the Note-style phone. A built-in S Pen and a different body shape separated S22 Ultra from the regular S22 and S22+, rather than simply making it the biggest version.

The Note idea inside the S family
A stored stylus changes the convenience of taking a quick note: it is there when needed, rather than an accessory you must remember to carry separately. That does not make Ultra the best fit for everyone. If you mostly use a phone one-handed, size and weight can matter more than pen features. Treat the S22 range as a choice between different ways of using a phone, not as a ladder where the highest name automatically wins.
Which version is which?
S22 and S22+ are the regular main-series choices. S22 Ultra is the Note-influenced option with its own body and pen storage. The earlier S21 Ultra supports a separate pen but has no equivalent internal silo. Do not confuse S21 FE’s 2022 release with an S22 FE model: family numbers and announcement years are different pieces of information.
Looking at one today
If buying Ultra for handwriting, remove and replace its pen normally and test writing across the display. Check the cameras, screen edges and charging port on every model. Ask about battery and display repairs and compare storage capacities carefully. Regional hardware and carrier support should be confirmed through the complete model number, particularly for an imported handset.
Before choosing an older phone, check the exact model on Samsung’s current security-update list and confirm local network compatibility.
