The Best Green Mobile Phone

If you’re concerned about the environment, there’s a great new green mobile phone for you. From LG to Samsung, there are plenty of options to choose from.

LG ARENA

LG ARENA is LG’s new flagship mobile phone for 2009. This innovative device offers users a full multimedia experience.

It is also the first to feature a graphical menu system, called the S-Class UI. The ARENA’s 3D menu system is responsive to finger gestures.

One of its most impressive features is the Floating Image Gallery. This photo viewer displays photos in a row while the phone is on its side.

ARENA also offers a high-end five megapixel camera. Users can choose from manual and auto focus modes. In addition to its high-resolution image quality, the camera can record slow-motion videos up to 120 frames per second.

It’s also the first multimedia phone to incorporate Dolby Mobile. With Dolby Mobile, the audio from music and video is enhanced to produce a surround sound effect.

Samsung Replenish

Samsung Replenish is the first Android smartphone that is entirely eco-friendly. It is made of recycled materials, including soy inks and 82 percent recyclable packaging.

Besides being an eco-friendly phone, Replenish is also a bargain. With a contract, it costs just $50. And with Sprint’s Everything Data plan, you can surf the web and make unlimited calls for just a few dollars more.

The Samsung Replenish is a small, inexpensive Android smartphone. It’s a good choice for people looking to switch to a smartphone for the first time. You don’t have to worry about software upgrades, since this model is based on Android 2.2 Froyo.

One of the best things about Replenish is that it offers solar-powered charging. When the phone is exposed to sunlight, it will charge up in about an hour, generating 20 minutes of talk time.

Trolltech Greenphone

Trolltech is releasing a new mobile phone called the Greenphone. It is based on Linux and features a 1.3 megapixel camera. The phone is tri-band and supports GPRS/GSM networks.

In addition to the phone itself, the box contains a USB cable, a stereo headset and a power supply. It also has a mini-SD slot for data storage.

The Greenphone uses a 312MHz Marvell PXA270 ARM processor. It runs a 320 x 240 pixel touchscreen. There is a volume control and a retractable stylus. And the phone comes with a full set of development tools. But it has a hefty price tag.

The phone is available in a range of colors. Users can buy the device for $695. For a price of $195 extra, they can purchase a license that allows for commercial development.

LG Galaxy Exhilarate

It’s no secret that mobile devices are becoming more environmentally friendly. The tech industry, which is largely responsible for 2% to 3% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, has made a number of steps toward reducing its footprint on the environment. These include developing phones and other gadgets that use less energy and recycle more of their components.

Samsung has been a leading producer of green mobile phones, including the Galaxy Exhilarate, which debuted this year at CES. While it may not be the greenest phone in the land, it’s still a solid contender when it comes to eco-friendly smartphones. This Android smartphone features a few notable eco-friendly touches.

Teracube 2E

Teracube is a company devoted to making eco-friendly handsets. Their flagship device, the Teracube 2e, is made out of biodegradable materials and features a USB-C port. They also offer a replacement battery and a fully-recyclable case.

The Teracube 2e has been a big hit in the green mobile market. It’s a mid-range smartphone that’s available in the United States and Canada. But, it’s not the only environmentally friendly phone out there.

Teracube is a relatively new start-up. Their business model is to encourage sustainable consumption, which is why they use recyclable materials and reuse packaging.

The Teracube 2e comes with a four-year warranty. This is a lot longer than most manufacturers. In addition, the company promises to plant a tree for each device sold.

Nokia X30 5G

HMD Global’s Nokia X30 5G is a smartphone that boasts a high-quality design. It’s also the company’s most eco-friendly phone yet.

The handset is packed with eco-friendly features like an aluminum frame and 65 percent recycled plastic components. Plus, it’s IP67 water-resistant, meaning it can survive immersion up to one meter for up to an hour.

Aside from its aforementioned water-resistance, the Nokia X30 is also certified for dust-resistance. Its screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. And, it has a display that’s bright enough to fight intense sunlight.

For those who don’t want to buy a brand new device, the X30 is also available on a rental basis. You can rent it for a month or three months, and if you decide you don’t like it, you can turn it in.
